Shopify CSV import errors: what to try
Shopify won't upload your product file? Find the message you're seeing below. Each section explains what it means and what to try.
A CSV is a spreadsheet saved as a .csv file. The top row names the columns. The rows below hold your product details.
Missing headers: Title
Shopify can't find the column for product names. Look for Title in the top row. Check for extra spaces before or after the word. If every column appears missing, the file may have been saved in the wrong format.
Illegal quoting on line
Shopify can't read part of the file. A misplaced quotation mark or the way the file was saved may be the cause. Save a backup before editing. CSV Spruce can report an unreadable file, but it doesn't repair broken quotation marks.

Field must be true or false
Some columns ask a yes/no question. Shopify uses TRUE for yes and FALSE for no. Check the column named in the error. CSV Spruce can change clear answers such as yes, no, 1, and 0 into that format.
Options are not unique
Two versions of the same product may have the same size and color. For example, two rows may both describe a small red shirt. Check whether one row is a duplicate or has the wrong details. CSV Spruce doesn't check for or fix these duplicate combinations.

Images won't upload
Check the image link in a browser where you aren't signed in. Shopify needs a direct link to the image that works without a login. A file stored only on your computer won't work. CSV Spruce doesn't check image links.
Products uploaded but aren't showing
In Shopify, open the product and check its status and where it's available for sale. Being active and being available in your online store are separate settings.
What can CSV Spruce do?
Check for supported formatting problems and read the results for free. We can fix extra spaces in column names and yes/no formatting. We also flag some problems that need your attention. We can't check every reason an import might fail.
